MOTEMA BIO:
Formed
in 2005 from the remains of Ireland’s first all Congolese band ‘The Lace’
Motema’s core line up of 5 all-star musicians represent the pinnacle of true
Congolese musicianship anywhere in the world today. Often involving guest
singers and musicians, Motema’s performances will always mean ‘its time to
party’, push the limits and strut outrageously.
‘Niwel’ Tsumbu - Guitar &
vocals.
Departing form his recent jazz/world musical voyages and
collaborations following the release of his new album
'Song of the Nations',
Niwel enjoys nothing more than going back to his roots and playing
traditional Congolese music with his fellow countrymen. Niwel’s searing
Soukous guitar breaks raising the bar a little further at every turn.
‘Daniel’ Muyombo - Guitar &
vocals: Born in
Kinshasa Daniel performed with some of the greatest and best known Congolese
acts ever formed, including Luambo Franco’s OK Jazz and Zaiko Langa Langa
(among many more) before moving to Ireland. Another original member of
Ireland’s first Congolese band ‘The Lace’, Daniel’s experience of playing
guitar and singing with many mainstream Congolese bands back in Kinshasa
reinforces the authentic feel and ‘real sound' of Congolese Rumba and
Soukous.
